Low Carb Ice Cream

Low-carb ice cream is the altered version of the traditional dessert.  It has fewer carbohydrates for each serving than does standard ice cream.  Not all cabs are bad carbs. As a matter of fact, some carbohydrates are essential to our bodies.  However, some persons need to watch their intake of carbohydrates due to reasons having to do with heath issues as well as weight loss.  There are some ice creams that are low carb but that contain a high percentage of carbohydrates anyway.   These carbs will often times be responsible for creating glycemic implications for the body since it is difficult to digest. You will get to your net carbs after those kinds of carbohydrates have been taken away from the entire amount that is referred to as a serving size.  The net carbs is what those who are on particular diets will look for on products that they are intending to purchase.

Low carb ice cream comes in the form of those products that contain reduced or no sugar at all, and those that are significantly different than the traditional ice cream ingredients.  There are fifteen grams of carbohydrates in traditional ice cream.  On the other hand, ice cream that has a substitution for sugar has about seven grams of carbohydrates.  Low carb ice cream does in fact have sugars in them; these sugars are come from many different ingredients including from the cream itself.  There are other products that comprise of sugar substitutes.  Then there are those products that contain glycerin and other ingredients that serve to give it that consistency that is creamy in nature ad that makes scooping easy.

There is a kind of low carb ice cream that is almost the same as the regular ice cream.  The only difference is the sugar that has been added.  These are the types of low carb ice cream that are called no sugar added low-carb ice-cream that would have approximately fifty percent of the net carbs of the regular ice-cream.  There are some products that use sugar substitute such as acesulfame potassium and sucralose.

Then there are ice-creams that are low-carb ice creams that use recipes that are more substantially modified. These are the kinds of ice creams that have milk as a substitute for cream or that also has milk that is used with the cream.  These are also seen as ice cream that is low and/or reduced fat. Many products also have sugar alcohols in them and they have a serving size that more often than not contains less than three net carbs.

Glycerin is another additive to low carb ice-creams.  Most of these additives are used to make the consistency of the ice-cream that much better, as well as making the scooping of the ice-cream that much easier to do.
